"Body, Mind, and Spirit - Three Elements That Make Us Hopelessly, Beautifully Human" by Coach Deborah

Decluttering progress good..Last month, we looked at decluttering our physical environments. I don’t know about you, but I continue to plug along. So, know that if you are going through this process, you are not alone. Four of my friends and some of my clients are on a mission to declutter their homes as well. Let’s all give ourselves a pat on the back! If you’re just starting on your decluttering adventure - keep going! For added motivation and some fun, join me at The Hideaway in Northfield, MN on April 19 to discuss how to take control and put the P.O.W. (P-urge, O-rganize, W-in) on paper. Together, let’s "Clear the Clutter" to make way for our lives! Contact me for further information or to register for this clean sweep workshop.

Reducing excess, finding a home for our things, and setting up and maintaining a more organized, clutter free lifestyle grounds us and provides more time and space to breathe easier and be well. When you clear the clutter and take care of your body, mind, and spirit, you’re better able to balance job, home, and relationships.

Your physical body is your suit for your spiritual being to experience wearing while you are here. your physical body is your suit..Since I’m over 40, keeping my body physically fit has been much more of a challenge than when I was younger. Can anyone out there relate to this?! Going to the gym 3-4 times weekly and doing yoga keeps me fit and feeling fantastic. Physical activity and exercise help us to declutter our minds and relax our souls. Your energy level increases. Everything in moderation works for me, and a balanced diet isn’t a bad idea, either. When we keep our bodies healthy and well, it’s easier for the mind and spirit to find peace. Put some type of physical activity in to your life and have fun with it. Exercise isn’t meant to be a burden - it’s meant to be a lively energy boost.

How do you stimulate your mind? What makes you tick? What have you fed your brain recently? Whether it be reading, gathering information, the intellectual stimulation you get from your work, attending continuing education classes and seminars, or playing a game of chess, it’s important to keep your mind active and working, especially as you get older. Yes, I know, we all get older whether we want to admit it or not! Keep yourself involved with friends, associates, and your community. Your mind craves learning. Feed your mind. Challenge yourself to learn something new each day. It doesn’t have to be "big and earth shattering." For example, today I learned that the people in Bulgaria all dress quite formally. Clothes and looking good are a VERY big deal as those living in Bulgaria walk everywhere and are always seen by others and connecting with their communities on a daily basis. No matter the errand or occasion, women wear skirts and men wear suit jackets, even to do something as simple as go to the grocery store. Here in America, most of us hop in our vehicles dressed informally. We might be seen by someone we know as we shop, and most of us are okay with that. The Bulgarian people seem to have a great respect for themselves. There’s one thing I know for sure. I want to go to Bulgaria, and when I do, I’ll be packing my best clothes.

nurture your spiritFinally, there’s the human spirit. What does your spirit yearn for? How do you connect with and nurture your spirit? Prayer and meditation bring me to a peaceful, happy place. Poetry, music, nature, art, connecting with others, the first cup of coffee in the morning, these are the things that help our spirits soar. The process of creating anything satisfies the human soul and moves your spirit to a state of grateful joy and exhilaration. My spirit’s learned how to say "yes to the best and no to the rest." Knowing who you are and gaining the wisdom to know for sure where to put your time, talent, and energy is a gift from your spirit.

read more..What will you begin doing to harmoniously integrate your body, mind, and spirit to achieve true wellness? Maybe you’ll read more, meditate, treat yourself to a professional massage, or take a daily walk. The sky’s the limit. Allow yourself to live in possibility land. Come on. I know you can do it. Let your body, mind, and spirit take you away and allow yourself to enjoy the ride.

Here's the deal...

In each life area (physical environment, health and wellness, finances, and relationships) aim for PROGRESS, not for Perfection. When we have a sense of forward movement (progression), we feel better. When we feel better, we’re better equipped to serve ourselves and others. That’s when the real miracles happen.

By the way...

When you keep your body, mind, and spirit filled up, you can handle anything that comes your way. Think about your car. It runs well when there’s gas in the tank, the oil’s been changed, the tires rotated, the engine maintained, and broken parts repaired. As human beings, we need to be consistently filled up, healthily maintained, and any physical, mental, emotional or spiritual brokenness repaired to function well in the world and move positively forward each day. Always move toward keeping your tank full and your engine running smoothly.

Give yourself a Me-Time moment...

Think YOGA for your body, mind, and spirit. Even if you work in an office, take five minutes daily to do one or two simple stretches to relax and regain clarity. Here are two examples:

(As you are sitting in your office chair)

Human basketball net - Raise yor arms straight above your head. Interlace your fingers. Alternate palms downward and upward. Stretch and breathe. Stretch your arms out in front and relax your shoulders.

(As you are sitting in your office chair)

Neck Rolls - Drop your head to one side. Roll it around in a wide circle; switch directions. Slowly find the tight spots. Hold and breathe, letting your breath release the tightness. EXTRA STRETCH: Place a hand on your head and gently pull to the side.
Something to think about...

garage sale coming soon..If you’re in the process of decluttering your home, consider having a garage sale. Four of my friends and I are having a "garage sale blitz" at my home May 18-19. Stay tuned. More details will be coming in the "May Monthly Musings" newsletter.

On a Wing and A Prayer...

"Everything is possible with God." Mark 10:27; Matthew 20:26
All things are possible! Ask, believe, and receive. Expect good things to happen to you. That’s right. EXPECT GOOD THINGS TO HAPPEN TO YOU.
